Pigtown Main Street Release:
On September 22, 2018 from 12-7pm, Pigtown Main Street will present the 17th Annual Pigtown Festival, a family friendly event that celebrates the character of one of Baltimore’s most unique neighborhoods. Thousands will visit our funky neighborhood to see the iconic “Squeakness” pig races. Attendees will experience another spectacular festival dancing to live music, enjoying local food and drink, and browsing arts and craft tables. Families will enjoy an amazing Kid Zone, lacrosse shootouts, and, of course, cheer on their favorite pig at the Pigtown Races.
Other activities
Live music by regional bands including Players Band, The Crawdaddies, and from Clarksdale, Mississippi Terry “Big T” Williams, festive food, local brews, pie-eating contests, and more!
The highlight of the event will be the annual “running of the pigs,” which will take place throughout the day.
“We’re very excited about this year’s music lineup,” said Frieda Ulman, Marketing and Special Events Manager at Pigtown Main Street. “We have everything from roots rock, zydeco, Jamaican ska, reggae to Mississippi blues. Our food trucks and vendors will be selling some of Baltimore’s best eats and serving local brews.”
The free family attraction is an all-day Kids Zone with entertainment, free crafts and activities, which include Enoch Pratt big game play and children story time, hula-hoop, balloons, and animal meet-n-greet. Other activities and entertainment include pie-eating contests. The bottomless drink wristband for unlimited beer, wine and cocktails is back by popular demand and can be purchased in advance for $25 or $30 at the event.
The festival is made possible by the generosity of this year’s sponsors: Harbor Design and Manufacturing, UMB, UMB USGA, Emergent BioSolutions, Paul’s Place, Modu Tech,
STX, Len the Plumber, Hamilton Bank, Hammerjacks, Cheat Bar and Grill.
Proceeds will benefit Pigtown Main Street, whose mission is to revitalize the Washington Boulevard commercial corridor – Pigtown’s main business artery – through events, support for small businesses and clean, green and safe initiatives.
The 17th Annual Pigtown Festival offers something for everyone and will take place rain or shine.
